What's New for Tax Year 2026

Reporting threshold increased to $2,000: under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (P.L. 119-21), the minimum reporting and backup-withholding threshold for gambling winnings rose from $600 to $2,000 for payments made during the 2026 calendar year. It will be adjusted for inflation each year starting in 2027.
